How we source what you see here
What we publish
For each candidate, you'll find their position on eight autism-related issues. Each position is a short, neutral summary written by us. Where possible, we add a direct quote in the candidate's own words. Every entry links to its source and shows the date we last checked it.
What we never publish
Scores, grades, ratings, or rankings. Labels like "friendly" or "unfriendly." Side-by-side comparisons of candidates. Words that judge a position instead of describing it.
Where it comes from
We use three kinds of sources, in this order:
- Official voting records from the Florida Legislature and Congress
- Candidates' own public statements
- A questionnaire we send to every candidate on the ballot (starting in 2028)
We sometimes use research tools to find records faster. We always link to the original official source, never to the tool.
When there's no record
If we can't find a verified position, we say so. We don't guess, and we don't fill gaps with what others say about a candidate. Quotes come only from candidates themselves.
About this cycle
2026 is our pilot. We're using public records only, because there isn't enough time before the November 3 general election to run a fair questionnaire. Every 2026 profile says so.
How we keep it current
During election season, we recheck every profile monthly. The rest of the year, we recheck quarterly. Anything overdue gets flagged for review.
Photos
Candidate photos come only from the campaign itself or from official government portraits. Never from news coverage.
Our independence
We don't accept money, sponsorship, or support of any kind from candidates, campaigns, or political parties.
